IVF alternatives when trying to conceive

While in vitro fertilization or IVF is a popular method of conceiving with fertility issues, there are other solutions that can be just as effective. Such treatments include hormone drugs to increase production, intrauterine insemination and diet or lifestyle changes. To save yourself the expense of IVF, you may consider using one of the following alternatives.

  • Hormonal drugs are prescribed during IVF procedures to stimulate the production of eggs within the ovaries. The same drugs, however, can be prescribed to balance out hormones and create the perfect atmosphere for conception within your body. Hormones can also help to regulate your menstrual cycle which will increase your odds of conceiving. If you are unsure about hormonal therapy, discuss the issue with your physician. Your physician will be able to discuss the pros and cons and help you to determine if the therapy is right for you.
  • Intrauterine insemination is similar to IVF in that there is an implantation via syringe. The implantation, however, is not eggs, but rather semen. The purpose of intrauterine insemination is to get the sperm closer to the ovaries so they are in place when ovulation occurs. The procedure can be done from 3-6 days before you ovulate as that is the length of time that sperm can survive in your body. Having the sperm near the egg when it is released can increase your odds of a successful conception.
  • Diet and lifestyle changes are about as simple as you can get. Improving your diet is beneficial to your health and to your body. Incorporate fertility boosting foods such as green vegetables – namely asparagus, spinach and seaweed. For men, barley green juice and pumpkin seeds are good for increased semen production. Exercising can get your body in shape to gear up for pregnancy and can also aid in weight loss after delivery and can make delivery easier. Be sure to also eliminate any toxins from your body such as alcohol and drugs. Both can have a detrimental effect on your odds for conception.

In vitro fertilization or IVF can increase your odds of conceiving dramatically. Before spending the money on the expensive procedures, first consider trying one of the above alternatives. Sometimes all that is needed is a simple lifestyle change such as a diet or exercise plan.

Intrauterine insemination may be helpful too as it will make sure the sperm is close to the egg when it is released.

Hormone therapy can stimulate your eggs and increase your chances of ovulation as well as balance out any hormonal imbalance your body may have. Whichever method you decide to use, stay positive about conceiving and avoid any excess stress.

During the last time there a lot of information concerning the use of fresh and frozen biological material during the in vitro fertilization. It is said that it is much better to use fresh eggs and sperm during the IVF conduction. I read that one of the main reasons of failure IVF programs with the use of frozen biological material is rather poor quality of cells after their thawing. Experts explain it such way as IVF with cryopreserved eggs resulted in fewer live births. It’s much better to use fresh oocytes in order to reach successful pregnancy and live birth. During cells’ thawing their structure is damaged. In addition not many cells survive. Doctor can even not to see deformation of cells immediately. But in future it could lead to various diseases and abnormalities of child. Women needing to ensure they are well informed before considering egg freezing. My friend uses such service in Ukrainian clinic. She almost lost her house when she tried in Canada. As she said Ukraine became her second home. It was a great conditions there – legality, good price, all-inclusive package of services which she used. Clinic even gave her guarantee that she would leave the medical center only with a baby. I remember she told that she didn’t find such guarantee in any other clinic nor in Canada. Therefore she believed them and started the program. She got pregnant after the second in vitro fertilization. She gave birth in time and the baby is healthy and beautiful.
