Along with all of the usual stresses and joys of pregnancy comes the need to decorate your nursery. For many, this can bring its own set of worries along with it. And certainly plenty of joys! For those who have a limited space, those concerns will escalate once you see how much room even a portable-style crib will require. So what is a parent to do when it comes to creating designs in the nursery that will also provide the utility you need in a reduced area.

Pegboard BackdropPegboard-Changing-Ta

Whether you use this just over your changing table or above the toy box for additional vertical storage, a pegboard makes an excellent option in quick, trim and changeable storage. You can hang items directly from pegs or find perfectly fitting pegged storage baskets or boxes at your local hardware store. And don’t forget that it’s incredibly easy to customize. Paint it the color of your choice, glitter it up or even fill in a few holes, paint it with chalkboard paint and have your own little message system in baby’s room!

Remember when I mentioned how much room that crib will take up? It does. There’s no reason to ignore the huge amount of space available under your baby’s crib, even if it is that smaller model. You’ll find it’s easiest to just grab a measurement of the space you have under there and head off to the local big box or hardware store. Don’t forget to leave enough room for your container to slide easily under the crib. But hey! No one says you absolutely have to go utilitarian here, either. As a matter of fact, if you’re still hoping to get some cute into your nursery, for affordable costs, this is a great time to grab a few adorable baskets, decorative buckets, or even have a custom storage drawer built for under the crib.

If your space is limited on vertical storage, you may not have the room to have full sized shelves or non-flush items hanging on your wall space. However, you also can’t ignore the chance to utilize some of it where there’s no chance of head bumps. If your little one is like many, you might need a great little bookshelf over their bed to store their bedtime story books. IKEA just happens to have a spice rack that doubles as a great book shelf. And of course, it also comes in natural wood so this is another chance to add your personal touch to your new nursery.

If you happen to have a closet in your nursery, you’ll get the chance to hide one of those utility items with this. If you don’t, you can always decorate it up, or even look around in the far recesses of Amazon or Ebay to find a shoe storage holder with a bit of flair. But if you’re looking to save space, you can’t really avoid the mass organization this item will offer. Toss it up on the back of that closet door or on the entry door itself. Keep everything from bath toys and soaps to your baby’s favorite pacifier in those for grab-and-go convenience.

Changing Table Hooks or RailChanging-Table-Hook-Rail-Project-Nursery

Such a simple little idea can make convenience a huge plus in a place where, let’s admit it, bad things can happen. This brilliant and affordable addition to the end of your changing table will put hanging towels, clothes and other necessities right within reach, helping you stay right by your baby’s side at all times. You can use a strip of hooks or even go mega utility with a few Command hooks or accessories.
