10 Ways to Have an Amazing Pregnancy

While every pregnancy is likely amazing in its own personal and unique to the parents-to-be ways, there are always a few extra things you can do to ensure that your pregnancy moves along smoothly and most importantly, enjoyably as possible for the Mother-to-Be.

10 Ways to Have an Amazing Pregnancy

We polled a few pregnant mothers who shared ten critical rules to having an amazing pregnancy. Let’s find out what they came up with.

  1. Spread the Joy – Regardless on whether or not the pregnancy was a planned, expected or surprise one, the point is always that the baby is growing and it’s time to celebrate. Put aside any stresses or worries that will get in the way of you relishing in the thought of adding a new member to your family. Find a cute, unique or old school way to share the news with your family and get down to the business of planning to expand your family by one more, or two, or three…10 Ways to Have an Amazing Pregnancy
  2. Update Your To-Do List – Don’t let that shift in your priorities intimidate you. Instead, just simply update that list. What is important to you right now? So maybe re-staining the back deck isn’t as important to you now as updating the nursery. Get those nesting tasks on your list so that you can feel free to kick back and enjoy suggestion 1 as much as possible.
  3. Take Pictures – Take more pictures too. Some pregnant women feel less inclined to take photos, but don’t let those niggling feelings about how you might look to others stop you, not in any way. The pictures you take now will make for excellent cherishing material for you, your baby and your whole family. Get everyone involved, come up with creative ideas that are singular to your family alone. And as always, make sure to implement suggestion 1 as much as possible!
  4. Take Care of Your Back – It might not sound dire if you’ve never experienced back pain, but your body is in the process of making room for a pretty large person and that will take its toll on your back, even if you are in super condition. Get those long, warm soaks you need. Make the time for the extra care your back needs and deserves or you could find yourself suffering back issues when you need them the least, when you’ll be toting that baby around!
  5. Relax with a Soothing Tea – Or a warm milk, or a nice tall glass of water. Whatever your indulgence when it comes to what you like to sip, always take the time for yourself when you can. Remember that the less caffeine the better for you and your baby, but there’s no harm in enjoying your favorite non-alcoholic drink from time-to-time and the mental reboot you’ll get is just what a person growing a baby needs!
  6. Pamper Your Feet – Pregnancy is just as hard on the feet as it is the back. In fact, in the latter stages, it’s quite common for women to suffer from swollen ankles and feet, requiring a bit more tender-loving care than the average sore feet. If you’re working on your feet, put those pumps or slick shoes aside and go for flats that offer comfort and safety from slips, trips and falls.
  7. Resist the Temptation to Get a Drastic Haircut – Pregnancy certainly does things to the hair… Some of those things are unwanted, some perhaps not. Many women experience a new love for their hair. It’s growing long, it’s super shiny and it feels healthier than ever. For others, dry, stripped hair that feels more like hay than silk is a closer experience. However, getting an emotional “fed up with it” cut might not be the best idea for a pregnant mother who is suffering in the throes of whacky hormones and intense emotional roller coasters. Wait until your baby is born to make decisions that we all know can be quite drastic and stressful.
  8. Exercise – That’s it. You don’t need further instruction here. Get some exercise. It’s good for you, your heart, your baby, your baby’s heart. It’s good for everyone. Just do it. At least 30 minutes per day, unless otherwise instructed by a medical professional.
  9. Write to Your Baby – You don’t have to be a professional author. But do write down those thoughts you have for your baby while they are growing within you. Those thoughts may seem vulnerable or even silly to you now, but believe me, they will be precious gifts left to your family, children, and grandchildren for a lifetime.
  10. Forget About It – Even though it may feel the opposite, pregnancy doesn’t last that long in the big scheme of things. Enjoy the time to be introspective, to think about bigger things than just yourself and your spouse, find a nice warm body of water and ‘float it out’. Being in water can be a true liberation during pregnancy.
